About this Site and its Title
This site promotes concepts, ideals, principles, aspirations, and strategies close to my heart and in which I deeply believe. Many of the things I value are embodied in leadership, wisdom, service, and soul. They, along with citizenship, democracy, empowerment, agency, and community, define my teaching, research and other scholarly activity, and, increasingly, shape the work I do as an advisor to executives, builder of teams, and developer of human capital.
While leadership, wisdom, service, and soul are each distinct and individually important, for me, they go hand-in-hand, together forming a profound composite seeking and contributing to the greater good. The bonds and complementarities amongst leadership, wisdom, service, and soul combine and operate in harmony to make the ideal human being, team, organisation, and community.
I do not fully understand leadership, wisdom, service, and soul as individual elements, much less how they operate synergetically, but I know they belong together, may hold the promise of a better world and sustainable planet, and are worthy of dedicated study and individual and collective cultivation.
I do not profess to have served effectively as leader, attained wisdom, or found and manifest my authentic soul. But I believe their pursuit is noble and necessary if we are ever to fulfil our potential, find contentment, and contribute meaningfully to making our workplaces and neighbourhoods vital and vibrant.
In their pursuit, and attempting to share what I have learned, I have, over time, written articles and developed lessons, presentations, and other resources that speak to facets of leadership, wisdom, service, and soul and their integration. I will be including them (or links to them) on this website. Initially, this will be one-way--my attempt to start and provide a foundation for the needed conversation. But leadership, wisdom, service, and soul are not merely individual acts and efforts; they are best collective endeavour and shared experience. I hope this site becomes a centre of interaction and dialogue, where interested persons and concerned citizens can raise issues, challenge me and one another, pursue questions collectively, and learn together.
